The Leeds Green Wave scored early and often last Friday night to blow out the Holtville Bulldogs 55 – 7 and claim the Class 4A Region 3 title.
Leeds has its eyes set on the second season, which will get underway a week from Friday night.
It only took the Green Wave 48 seconds to get on the board when TaDarryl Marshall connected with Jacoby Lockhart for a 49 yard touchdown pass. Morgan Coston’s extra point was good, and Leeds led 7–0.
After stopping the Bulldogs in three quick plays, the Green Wave got the ball back and put another score on the board. Tyler Wright was the cause of this score with a three-yard run for the touchdown. 14–0 was the score with 6:05 left in the quarter.
The Leeds defense once again got the Bulldogs offense off the field quickly and got the ball back. This time Tre Nation got the socre with a 20-yard touchdown run. The extra point once again was good, and Leeds was moving along up 21–0, still in the first quarter.
The Green Wave closed out the first with a big pass play. Marshall connected with tight end Demontrez Clark for a 51-yard touchdown with some great moves on the way to the end zone. Leeds was up big, 28–0 after one quarter.
The Leeds defense got on the board to start the second quarter. Linebacker Adam Brown picked off a Bulldog pass out of the air and returned it 22 yards for a score. Leeds was now up by 35.
The two teams exchanged a few punts on the next couple of drives. Leeds’ next score came after the Bulldogs’ second punt. Leeds took over at their own 34 yard line and marched right down the field. Nation closed out the drive with a 28-yard run for the score. The Green Wave was rolling, up by 42.
Leeds put up one more score right before the half. The score was set up by a 62 yard scamper by Wright that set Leeds up at the Holtville seven yard line. Nation closed out the drive with a 14 yard touchdown run and closed out the half with Leeds up 49-0.
The only other score for the Green Wave came midway through the third quarter when Jacoby Lockhart picked off a Bulldog pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was no good, but the night was great.
The Leeds Green Wave brought home another region title with a 55–7 win.
The stats, like the score, were all Green Wave. TaDarryl Marshall had a great night passing going 7-10 for 173 yards and two touchdown passes.
One of those passes went to Demontrez Clark, who had 51 receiving yards. The other touchdown pass went to Jacoby Lockhart, who had 78 yards receiving with three catches and a touchdown. He also had a pick six. Adam Brown also added a pick six on the night.
Koi Freeman was the other receiver catching passes from Marshall. Freeman had two receptions for 26 yards.
As always the Green Wave churned up the yards on the ground. Tre Nation had 100 yards rushing on three carries and three touchdowns, while Tyler Wright had 101 yards on four carries and a touchdown.

I could easily give my player of the week to the each member of the Leeds Green Wave football team ,who can once again call themselves region champs.
This week my player of the week goes to Jacoby Lockhart who scored on both offense and defense for the Green Wave.
A LOOK AHEAD
The Green Wave will be on their bye week this week. It is a much needed bye after such long road trips during the regular season.
Leeds will look to get the second season (the playoffs) started next week with a home playoff game as the Class 4A Region 3 champions. Kick off for next week’s playoff game will be at 7:30 p.m. at Homer Smiles field against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
