Springville High School Principal Virgil Winslet announced he will retire Oct. 1. Springville Elementary School Principal Gregory Moore will take over the position.

Winslet began as principal for Springville Middle School where he served for 12 years before transitioning into the High School setting where he was principal for six years.

Moore, who began his education career in St. Clair County will become Springville High School. Moore taught english at Moody High School, later becoming assistant principal at Pinson Valley High where he worked for eight years.

He then went on to become assistant principal at Chalkville Elementary and then became principal of Springville Elementary, where he has served for the past three years.

Moore graduated with a bachelors degree in English from Faulkner University and went on to get his masters in secondary English language arts and a specialist degree in educational leadership from UAB. He is now working to receive his doctorate from Samford University.
