Santa’s stylist and celebrity style extraordinaire Mark-Alan Harmon stopped by The Outlet Shops of Grand River to provide his tips for conquering the outlets while still staying on budget.

Showing several clutches, accessories and covers for those technology obsessed folks on your list, Harmon shared with shoppers the savings you can get at the shops.

“Take this python bag, for instance. At the regular Kenneth Cole store, you’d pay $298. At the shops, this bag is only $84.90,” Harmon said.

On point with what’s trending, Harmon said that rose gold is very big right now. And he offered a friendly suggestion.

“Necklaces with big color and big style make for great stocking stuffers.”

If you’re having trouble finding the perfect present for the guy on your list ,Harmon says, “Number one—you’re over thinking it. Guys don’t care. Buy them a nice watch or wallet, and you’ll be fine.”

Something else the man in your life might like is an iPad or Kindle cover from Wilson’s Leather Outlet. For around $40 you can purchase a gift that won’t break your bank.

For the ladies on your list, metallics are in and this season’s must have. Harmon suggests a great way to jazz up a dull outfit is to add a pop of color. Metallics are the right touch for the holidays because of their festive shimmer.

For shoppers with a strategy of conquering the outlets, Harmon says, “Always go to the back of the store. That area always has the best buys.” Another piece of advice he adds is to make a friend with an associate in the store.

“It’s all about clientele. If you ask when their sales are, they will call and let you know. You want to be on their calling lists.”

Striving to stay within a specific dollar amount? No problem. Harmon has a tip to keep you on track. “Thoroughly look at what you’re going to buy and stop to think if they will use it.”

Beginning his career as a design and wardrobe consultant at the age of 16, Harmon is a seasoned professional who considers it an honor to be called Santa’s Stylist.
