Red Ribbon Week has made its way to the halls of Leeds Middle School (LMS).
In an effort to ensure their students are drug free and remain that way, teachers, faculty and administrators at LMS are taking The Pledge.
Seen on www.redribbon.org, The Pledge is, “To set guidelines to help children grow up safe, healthy and drug-free.”
A statistic on the site says, “Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42 percent less likely to use drugs than those who don’t, yet only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.”
If you haven’t already, join the conversation or continue the conversation at home with your children to make sure drug awareness is a prevalent topic in your house.
Encouraging schools to get involved, a slogan the organization developed is, “A Healthy Me Is Drug Free, and that’s why I am celebrating Red Ribbon Week.”
