Moody City Council voted on at Monday night’s Moody City Council meeting, the City of Moody will now be enforcing a noise ordinance.
Under the ordinance radios, streets, loudspeakers, amplifiers, vehicle engines…shall be heard by neighboring inhabitants in the excess of 90 decibels at the distance of 200 feet between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Violation of this noise ordinance is a Class C Misdemeanor and violating this newly introduced ordinance can result in a fine not to exceed $500.
Another ordinance unanimously voted on applied to the sign ordinance.
City of Moody attorney James Hill said the city’s sign ordinance is in regards to property owners.
“This is to ensure the city’s welfare, image and character are maintained,” Hill said.
Moody’s sign ordinance requires business signs to be monument style as opposed to pole signs.
This ordinance provides modifications of current signs upon new tenants occupying business property owners.
Other topics approved and discussed:
* A flood damage prevention ordinance was approved. Due to updated FEMA flood maps, without this Flood Damage Prevention plan in place Moody citizens can’t purchase flood insurance unless they’re a part of the city’s flood plan.

This ordinance is in place to protect the citizens of Moody.
* Concerned citizen April Evans addressed the council regarding road repairs in Saddlepoint Subdivision.
As a Saddlepoint resident over the past seven-and-a-half years has been waiting for a road to be paved.
“Gutters are an issue and our driveways are busted,” said Evans.
City of Moody mayor, Joe Lee, told Evans that the city engineer will go out to the subdivision and generate a checklist.
With 90 percent of the subdivision completed Lee added, “It may take a while, but we will get this done.”
