A new medical facility celebrated its grand opening in Leeds on April 30, and Mayor David Miller said he believes it's an sign of expected growth in the area.
Drayer Physical Therapy Institute has been open for about two months in the Lemak Sports Medicine building that’s under construction off Rex Lake Road across from Bass Pro Shops. On Thursday, City of Leeds officials and Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce members met to welcome the new business to the community.
Sandi Caldwell, Drayer’s Regional Relationship Manager, said the company is excited in coming to the area, both to serve patients and build relationships in the community. She said Drayer’s mission for each of its 150 locations in 11 states is to provide community outreach through donations and volunteer efforts from staff.
Caldwell said Drayer has already invested in this year’s Leeds Creek Bank Festival and is exploring ways to assist other programs in the community, including Backpack Buddies.
“We’re very excited to be here serving the community,” she said. “We’ve been here for 8 weeks, but we’re going to be here many many years.”
During the event, Mayor Miller said the community is experiencing significant growth along the corridor.
“I’m really happy this has happened here,” he said. “As many of you know, we got to a point where we didn’t have a doctor or medical facility of any type in Leeds. All of a sudden, we’re blessed with Lemak and Drayer. UAB is coming and Brookwood Medical is going to build a clinic next door.
“We’re going to be the medical hub of East Jefferson County.”
Drayer Physical Therapy is open to patients of all ages. For more, call the Leeds location at (205) 699-8280 or visit them online at drayerpt.com.
