Festive fun is headed to Leeds as The Outlet Shops of Grand River host its second MayFest.
Attending MayFest allows community supporters to partake with a purpose as a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales benefits the Leeds Education Foundation (LEF).
Founded in 2005 LEF is dedicated to leaving a lasting Leeds legacy by putting money into classrooms.
Be it through school supply drives or LEF’s main focus, awarding grants, the organization’s members’ mission is about “Promoting achievement, respect and success through the Leeds City School system by putting money directly into the classrooms.”
Raising money throughout the year, LEF’s major purpose is providing grants to teachers. The 2013 school year saw its largest pool of grant applicants with 55 teachers applying.
Approximately $10,000 in grants are given each year.
So not only is the community offered an outlet for family friendly fun, you’re also investing in education.
“This is so exciting,” said Vicky Dean LEF president.
Leeds City Schools’ superintendent John Moore is also a member of the LEF and says these funds are greatly appreciated.
“This is just wonderful because these funds are used to benefit the teachers,” said Moore.
Echoing their sentiment, Rosyln Rodda Manager of Marketing and Tourism for the shops said, “Donating to local education adds an element to an already festive event.
MayFest is the perfect way for individuals and families to celebrate spring and the upcoming summer season.”
MayFest gets underway tomorrow Wednesday, May 7th and runs through Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11th.
Wednesday and Thursday MayFest hours are 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., Friday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday noon to 10 p.m. and Mother’s Day from noon to 6 p.m.
Wristbands for $15 provide unlimited rides (up to 5 hours) or single tickets can be purchased for $1 each inside The Outlet Shops of Grand River food court at Guest Services.
Looking forward to experiencing tons of fun over the next few days The Outlet Shops of Grand River invite you to take in the sites, shop and check out the 14 amusement rides on the fairway at the shop’s second MayFest.
