Huntington College offers two, four-year bachelor’s degrees for at Jefferson State Community College’s campus through its W. James Samford Jr. School of Business and Professional Studies.
The one-night-per-week sessions are designed for busy adults wishing to return to school or get more formal education. A bachelor of science in business management and another with a health management concentration are offered at the St. Clair County campus in Pell City.
For those wishing to take part in the degree program, 30 transferable hours from an accredited institution and a 2.0 GPA are required.
Designed for those who have obtained some level education, the 120-hour program is offered as an outreach of Huntington College. Five classes are taught through Jefferson State during the degree earning process.
“It’s for working adults,” Jane Blackburn, Assistant Site Coordinator, said. “For a lot of adults now days, their employers are telling them if they want to progress in a company, they have to have bachelor’s degree instead of just an associate degree. A lot of adults who have been out of school for some time just want to come back and finish a degree and this allows them to do that, too.”
Classes meet one night a week, Monday through Thursday and there are no online courses. It takes five weeks to complete one course and semesters are three, five-week classes.
