The Cullman City School Board formally accepted football coach Matt Plunkett's resignation Thursday.

The Cullman City School Board approved the resignation of Cullman High School football coach Matt Plunkett during the board’s regular meeting Thursday morning. Plunkett, who announced his resignation in November, will remain at the school as a teacher through the end of the school year.

In other business, the board:

Approved November 2018 payroll of $2,164,325.05, invoices paid of $804,123.39, financial statements and bank reconciliations.

Approved the following Head Start items: Expenditures Report for November 2018, Health/Nutrition/Disabilities/Enrollment Reports for November 2018.

Gave permission to surplus/salvage the following items from the Technology Warehouse: Six Dell projectors, 14 LCD monitors, nine Dell desktops, three DVD players, four document cameras, 19 Dell projectors, two NEC projectors, four Epson projectors, one Infocus projector and eight Smartboards.

Gave permission for Cullman High School to surplus/salvage 56 2’x3’ football lockers from the old football locker room.

Gave permission for Cullman High School to surplus/salvage 10 non-functioning Motorola walkie-talkies.

Gave permission for Cullman High School to surplus/salvage a washer, dryer, stove and microwave from the Family and Consumer Science Department.

Approved a recommendation by architect Holcomb Norton Partners, Inc. to accept Eagle Golf and Athletics, Inc. as the lowest responsible bidder for the baseball facilities upgrade.

Approved West Elementary School ACIP (Continuous Improvement Plan) 2018-2019.

Gave permission to contract with Dr. Denise Gibbs to provide consultation and conduct evaluations as directed by the Student Services Coordinator, beginning Nov. 26 to Sept. 30, 2019.

Approved the following personnel considerations:

 

Resignations

Melanie Calvert, art teacher at Cullman High School (half day) and Cullman City Primary School (half day), effective Dec. 19.

 

Employments

Timothy Waid Miller, special education instructional assistant at West Elementary School, beginning Dec. 12.

Patrick Riley, part-time custodian at Cullman High School beginning Feb. 1.

Meaghan Britton, temporary second grade teacher (to fill a leave of absence) at West Elementary School, beginning March 4 through May 24.

 

Amy Milne, temporary library media specialist (to fill a leave of absence) at East Elementary School tentatively beginning Jan. 22 through April 1.

Mark Britton, administrative supplement (level five) for extra duties, effective Dec. 3.

Correction to the 2018-2019 Non Athletic Supplement Schedule.

 

Athletic supplement

Cullman Middle School assistant football supplement split evenly between the following four volunteer coaches for the 2018 season: Ross Crocker, Juan Nava, John Sapp and Zak Stewart (funded by unassigned CMS football supplement).

 

Leaves of absence

Melanie Townson, instructional assistant at West Elementary School, requesting an unpaid leave of absence to complete student teaching requirements from Jan. 7 through May 13.

Theresa Bryant, CNP worker at East Elementary Schoo, requesting an unpaid leave of absence to complete student teaching requirements from Jan. 7 through May 3.

Jessica Posey, sixth grade science teacher at West Elementary School, requesting on half-day unpaid leave of absence on Nov. 29.

The Cullman City School Board will next meet on Jan. 15 at 12 p.m. in Tillman Hall at Cullman High School.
