Sville Happenings

The Springville Civil Air Patrol, AL-126 Cadet Squadron Color Guard participated in the City of Springville Veterans Day Ceremonies on Nov.11th at Big Springs Park. Cadet's C/2d Lt Kay, C/MSgt Shelton, C/MSgt Lumpkin, C/SSgt Mills, C/SSgt Hollingsworth, and C/A1C Nowlin raised the colors and laid the ceremonial wreath to honor Springville veterans.

The SHS Varsity Cheerleaders competed Monday, Nov.9th at the AHSAA Central Super Regiona lCheerleading Tournament at the Birmingham Crossplex placing 3rd and securing a bid to competein the 6A State Tournament. The Springville Middle School Cheerleaders also secured a bid to compete in the State Tournament.

The SHS Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will participate in the AHSSA State Cross Country 6A Tournament on Saturday, Nov.14th at Oakville Indian Mounds Park, Moulton, AL. The runners are: Sadie Deason, Claire Hutchinson, Gracie Mathews, Beth Ann Tucker, Cole Broome, Benjamin Chapman, Houston Colley, Jake Harned, Pete Harned, Nick Johnson, Caleb King, Zach Posey, David Robles and Jackson Williams.

Springville Parks & Recreation installed new lighting at the Pickle Ball Court located at Big Springs Park on Nov. 5th. City Council Member, Katrina Hennings helped make this possible with the Springville City Council.

The Springville Parks & Recreation Tigers Youth Cheerleaders hosted a cheer competition at the Springville Sports Complex on 6th with competing area teams. Springville Seniors won 1st place.

Congratulations to our 12U Flag Football team for winning first place in the 2020 Springville All Stars tournament.

Springville Community Meetings

The Springville Library now offers Small Group Preschool Storytime at the library on Tuesdays or Thursdays at noon. Attendance will be limited, so be sure to reserve your space now. Stories will be the same on both days. Children will receive bagged take-home crafts. Snacks will not be provided at this time. Masks are required for adults and children over six with social distancing. Call the annex at 205-467-7261 to register.

Springville Parks and Recreation

Springville Library

Beginning on Nov.9, 2020, the Springville Public Library is extending library appointment hours to include afternoon and evening appointments Monday-Friday, 9a.m.-5p.m. The hours will open our buildings for multiple patron appointments for patrons who wish to select materials and use library computers. Library programs that require building space will be held from 12-1:30p.m., please check your calendar for availability during these hours. Patrons are responsible for maintaining a safe social distance.

Springville Senior Center

The Springville Senior Center will be closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic until further notice.

Springville Preservation Society

The Springville Preservation Society is taking reservations for use of the historic “Little House” located adjacent to the Police Department for events or meetings.
