Hello everyone. And happy, almost Fourth of July. I hope everyone has a fun and safe day.

Thought for today: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

Pell City was represented at the NCAA women’s beach volleyball championship in Gulf Shores when Samantha Hennings sang the national anthem at the start of the tournament’s opening day. Samantha is a rising junior at Victory Christian School and the reigning 2019 Miss Cotton States Outstanding Teen. She’s performed the national anthem at local high school sporting events, corporate functions and even a Birmingham Barons game, but she described singing at the national beach volleyball championship tournament as something special.

Congratulations to Hannah Kelley who was recently selected as Miss Alabama Spectacular American 2019.

Congratulations to the Lincoln Generals who won the Championship Rings Tournament in Falkville this past weekend. My grandson, Michael Snow, plays on this Lincoln General Travel Team, along with a couple of his school ball teammates, Caleb Groce and TJ Cooper. Also, from Pell City playing on this winning team, include Tre Peterson, Landin Hardy, and Collin Wansart. Michael, TJ and Caleb are an important part of the Pell City 8th Grade Basketball Team. They played at Birmingham Southern basketball camp on June 10 and 11 and won all 6 of their games against teams in the Birmingham area, Montgomery, Georgia, and Florida. Keep an eye on this Pell City School team and their coach, James “Coondog” Causey. They are good.

Congratulations to the Sluggers Baseball Travel Baseball Team who won all its games to win the tournament in Boaz this weekend. Isaac Warren, son of Jackie and Jay Warren, and grandson to Donna and Jim Newman, plays on this team. Also, on the team are Dalton Lewellen, and Evan Crow.

Congratulations to the Pell City 12U All-Star Baseball Team that came in 2nd in the District Tournament. They are headed to State in Madison, AL. next weekend. Please keep the family of Bruce Nixon in your thoughts and prayers. Bruce passed away Saturday after fighting hard against that monster, cancer. This has been especially hard since another brother, Danny, passed away just last month on May 17. This family really needs your prayers.

As Logan Martin Lake was being formed in the mid-1960s, folks from Pell City First UMC saw the need for a worship service that would be welcoming to all who would frequent the lake 'in season'. Chapel in the Pines was born as an ecumenical-minded, open community of faith. In 2015, the leaders of Chapel partnered with the city of Pell City to build the current worship space, an open-air amphitheater, located in Pell City's Lakeside Park. Chapel in the Pines meets each Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. On July 1, Rev. Andy Lambert of Coosa Valley Church of God, will be speaking. On July 8, Rev. William Robinson, Rocky Zion Baptist Church will deliver the message. You are invited.

Did you know that you can rent the CEPA for your party or gathering? Go to the www.pellcitycenter.com for information on cost and procedures.

Hope you plan to go see the Pell City Spectacular Fireworks on July 4. I understand that Cropwell Baptist Church will offer free parking to the community, handing out water and popsicle.

Remember: “The best kind of people are the ones that come into your life, and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds. The people that believe in you so much, you start to believe in you too. The people that love you, simply for being you. The once in a lifetime kind of people.”

Please pray daily for our country, its leaders and for Israel. Contact me with at 205-338-7746 with information about your family’s news and gatherings or email to annette_snow@yahoo.com. Have blessed and safe week
