P-Kay’s Country Kitchen held its grand opening and ribbon cutting with the Pell City Chamber of Commerce at Coosa Island in Cropwell on Saturday, March 23.
Paula Kay Gopton is the owner of P-Kays Country Kitchen and she gave members of the band, Shotgun Shelley, a free serving of food for their performance at her grand opening. Jared Piper, the guitarist and background singer for Shotgun Shelley, thought the burgers were really good, as well as the catfish. Piper described the burgers having cube cheese in it and said the restaurant was one of a kind.
Shotgun Shelley is the first band to perform at P-Kay’s. They covered classic rock songs like “Ain’t that America” by John Mellencamp, and “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton. Their opening song was “Mary Jane” by Tom Petty. Gopton said they’re her favorite band.
The band said it was an honor to perform and mentioned how awesome the restaurant was.
P-Kay’s Country Kitchen menu offers a variety of food: steak, ribeyes, pork chops, shrimp, chicken tenders, cheese sticks, crab poppers, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and much more.
Employee Kristy Lynn said, “Our hamburger steak and Mahi-Mahi are core menu items.”
Dessert wise, there’s Triple Molten lava cake and cheesecake, which comes in three different flavors, chocolate, caramel and strawberry. The non-alcoholic beverages are $1.25.
Inside the restaurant is a bar, two pool tables, a jukebox, electronic darts and a upper and lower deck which offers a good view of Logan Martin Lake. Admission is always free, Gopton said.
Greg Weber, a president-elect of the Pell City Chamber of Commerce Board said, “The grand opening was awesome and it was a great turnout!”
According to P-Kay’s Facebook, on March 27 P-Kay is having karaoke night. Also there will be a dinner show March 29 at 6 p.m. with Ron Orton.
