Ashville book signing

As if there wasn’t enough reason to visit Ashville City Hall this Summer!  Elizabeth Lee Sorrell, an Ashville native, will be there signing not one, but two books: one for adults and one for children.  The event is Friday, May 24 from 2 – 4 p.m.

The children’s book is “Doofy Goes to School: Running Wild,” the third in a series of Doofy books written by Sorrell and illustrated by Sandra J.S.

Doofy is a loveable Hippo who finds misadventure everywhere he goes.  This year, the trouble is a group of madcap Flamingos.  These suddenly mischievous birds had always been well behaved.  But this year, they decide to see what happens when they throw caution-and the rules-to the wind and go running wild.  The book is action packed and full of enjoyment, and not just the story.  As bonus fun, facts about Flamingos and a Dot-to-Dot are tucked in the back of the book.  So, in addition to giggles, it offers education as well.

The adult book, “Home Runs, Double Plays, & Spies,” is about a small town newspaper reporter who suddenly finds herself in her dream job:  working with the Atlanta Braves.  But just when she’s counting her blessings, trouble appears in the form of an FBI agent.  He walks onto the field under an assumed name.  She had interviewed the agent several times.  And, to put it mildly, they did not get along.  Or, as one reviewer said, “they hated each other.”

Then she finds herself in the position of doing the agent a favor.  She is asked to keep his secret.  And it’s an important one,  She has to keep his secret.  But can she?  And if so, how long?

Come to Ashville City Hall and find out!

Parents bring your children and pick up what reviewers call “great Summer reading.”  Meet successful author and Ashville daughter, Elizabeth Lee Sorrell. Get your books signed and get started on these fun, educational, and suspenseful books.  Find out what Doofy does about the delinquent Flamingos and what the small town reporter does with the information she’s holding.

The event is Friday,  May 24 from 2- 4 p.m. at Ashville City Hall, located at 211 8th Street Ashville.
