Lady Green Wave out of state after losing two of three
Leeds —
Leeds’ Lady Green Wave was eliminated from the state Class 3A softball tournament last weekend, losing two of three games.
Straughn defeated the Lady Green Wave in the opener, 10-0, in six innings, before Leeds knocked Colbert Heights out of the tournament with a 10-5 win, scoring five runs in the bottom of the second and sixth innings. Laci Driggers hit 3-4 with two doubles and a single, and Abbie Ellison was 3-4 with two singles and a double. Brianna Glenn and Alisha McSweeny were both 2-4. Miss Driggers was the winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts.
A 7-6 loss to Winfield removed the Lady Green Wave from the playoff. Ahead, 6-3, after six innings, Leeds allowed Winfield to take the lead with four runs in the top of the seventh. Miss Driggers was 2-4 with two RBIs.
