Leeds — Leeds won three out of five games last weekend in the Locust Fork Invitational round-robin softball tournament in Blount County.
The Green Wave racked up a big 10-3 win over Pinson Valley on Friday night, then returned for a 14-0 shutout over Cleveland on Saturday morning. Leeds then won an 11-9 slugfest against the host team before being edged 3-2 by Susan Moore in the finale.
The Green Wave opened the tournament with a 14-3 loss to Hayden, during which Leeds pitchers gave up 13 runs in the third inning, including six walks and a three-run homer by Wildcats catcher Madison Durham. Hayden pitcher Mara Conner drove in three runs on a single and a double in the inning. Senior pitcher Laci Drigger got the loss for Leeds (3-3).
The Green Wave hosts Briarwood Christian Friday afternoon.
