3, 2, 1... Blast Off!

Pell City — [Photo at right] Ray Bennett of the Civil Air Patrol launches a soda bottle rocket filled with water and compressed with 60 pounds of air. Cadets from Pell City, Boaz, and Tuscaloosa gathered at Lakeside Park Tuesday for the first Model Rocketry Day. The event was put together through an Air Force Association grant obtained by Pell City’s Civil Air Patrol education officer, Capt. Cindy Bennett. More than 50 cadets attended.
