Smith awarded for service

Pell City — On Tuesday Sharon Smith, Executive Director at Lakeside Hospice, was honored by the Pell City Rotary Club with the Vocational Service Award.

A community leader who truly personifies the Rotary motto “Service above Self,” Smith displays her commitment and efforts not only in her personal life, but also through her vocation at Lakeside Hospice.

Smith has more than 30 years experience in nursing and nursing management. She serves as Executive Director at Lakeside Hospice as well as overseeing the Bereavement Center that serves communities in eight counties, providing grief support and community educational programs.

“Through personal experience and the testimonies of others, we feel that Sharon Smith is a great example of what a Rotarian should be, adhering to the four-way test and living out ‘Service above Self,’” said Mathew Pope, Pell City Rotary Club’s Vocational Service Director.
