Moody Fire Chief Resigns
The City of Moody accepted the resignation of Moody Fire Chief James Robinson last week.
Robinson, who has served the Moody Fire Department as fire chief since 2006, said his choice to resign came after he was offered a job in the private sector. However, he added that he would like to move back into his previous post as captain so he could continue to serve the community.
Robinson said he has been working for a consulting company over the last year and that an opportunity presented itself that was just too good to turn down.
“I will continue to stay connected to the fire department and the community to make sure we stay on target,” he said. “I plan to also stay involved with the department’s projects.”
Since becoming fire chief, Robinson has helped to re-outfit the department with new personal safety gear, helped secure grant money to acquire Moody’s Mobile Fire Training Unit and the jaws of life extraction tools and helped secure over $500,000 in grand funds. The fire department has also completely overhauled the communications system which is used as a model countywide and has negotiated a countywide ambulance contract.
“I’ll still be here and have plans to work with the guys in the department and the city to make sure there is a smooth, seamless transition,” he said. “My work at the fire department will continue and I plan on making sure the citizens know we are here to serve and that they continue to get the same high quality service they have come to expect.”
The Moody City Council accepted the resignation at a meeting Monday night, adding that they did so “with regret.”
