Moody Tennis sweeps Talladega; Blue Devils fall to Briarwood

Moody — The Moody Blue Devils’ boys team began their sectional play on Tuesday, February 22, with a resounding 9-0 victory against Talladega. The Blue Devils number one doubles team of Jay Patel and Sam Killingsworth defeated Talladega’s Cortlin Curry and Michael Cooper by an 8-3 score.     The girls team found similar success against Talladega, defeating the tigers in team play 7-2. Rachal Ezell led the Blue Devils as the number one singles player by dispatching Talladega’s Tara Sullivan 8-2 in singles play. Moody’s only singles loss came in a dramatic tiebreaker, as Talladega’s Chelsea Barkley held off Moody’s Hannah Hoose 8-7 (7-2).

On Thursday February 26th, Moody's tennis teams had a reversal of fortune, getting routed by both the boys and girls teams from Briarwood Christian Lions, losing both meets 9-0 respectively.

The Moody girls only managed to win two games in the nine-match meet, compared to Briarwood's 72. The boys fared little better, winning only eight games in nine matches.
